Moosalamoo Inn to Inn Hiking

Vermont’s Green Mountain National Forest is home to the Moosalamoo region, recognized by National Geographic for its outstanding local heritage, nature conservation and tourism stewardship. Hiking from one charming country inn to the next is a perfect way to experience this secret gem of New England with over 20,000 acres of forest, cliffs, vistas, lakes and streams.  We carry only daypacks while hiking the best routes in the area, possibly to include the well-maintained and quiet trails of Mt. Moosalamoo, Silver Lake, the Falls of Llana and others. In the evenings we enjoy the quiet comfort, warm hospitality, and gracious, hearty meals at the authentic century-old Churchill House Inn and the panoramic views, authentic antique furnishings and fresh gourmet creations of the Blueberry Hill Inn.  Escape the crowds and come discover the authentic heritage and natural beauty of secret New England.

Moosalamoo Inn to Inn Hiking Itinerary:

  • Day 1

Your trip begins today in Vermont.  On our October 24th departure, we meet at the Churchill House Inn located in Brandon, Vermont.  On all other departures your trip begins at the Blueberry Hill Inn located in Goshen, Vermont. You may check in as early as 3:00 p.m. for more time to enjoy the inn. Be sure to arrive no later than 5:30 p.m. to settle in and join your group for a brief orientation before our gourmet dinner is served, featuring locally sourced fare, freshly prepared by the inn’s own chef. Enjoy the inn’s comfort and hospitality and enjoy some time with fellow travelers before turning in for the night.  Dinner included.

  • Day 2

We awake and are served a hearty hot breakfast before heading out for our hike today. On each of our inn to inn hiking trips we use two charming inns, and today we will either day hike the area surrounding Blueberry Hill Inn before returning for one more night’s stay or we will set out on foot for the Churchill House Inn, enjoying a picnic lunch along the way. At the end of the day, we rest and enjoy another fine gourmet dinner prepared by our hosts.  Hiking: 6-10 miles; All meals and luggage shuttle included.

  • Day 3

Once again, a fine breakfast with our hosts begins the day, then we’re given our picnic lunches and set out for another fantastic day of hiking.  If the previous night was spent at Churchill House, a day of exploration of the surrounding trails lies ahead.  If not, we spend our day today making the journey from Blueberry Hill to the Churchill House Inn in time to enjoy our next gourmet dining experience.  Hiking: 6-10 miles; All meals, van transportation, and luggage shuttle included.

  • Day 4

After our breakfast we’ll have our picnic lunches prepared by our gracious hosts, then set out on a new path for more exploration of the spectacular Green Mountains. We return to Blueberry Hill Inn and our vehicles to say our goodbyes sometime in the mid-afternoon.  Hiking: 3-5 miles; Breakfast, lunch, and luggage shuttle included.

Note on Itinerary:

There are many hiking options surrounding the inns used on our itinerary, and our guide’s judgment along with the group’s abilities and interest will determine which routes we select.  On some itineraries we spend two nights at Blueberry Hill Inn and one night at Churchill House and on others we do the opposite.  To determine what inns we’ve specifically selected by departure, see the listing of inns below.  Either format creates ideal opportunities for hiking exploration of the area.  Although we do our best to adhere to the schedule listed above, this itinerary is subject to change for numerous reasons beyond our control.  This can include changes in the inns to be used, trails to be hiked, etc. due to weather and terrain conditions, etc.  This trip is operated rain or shine.
