Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, today announced the reappointment of Jose Ignacio Lozano and Brenda Davis to one-year terms on the company’s board of directors.
L
ozano joined REI’s board in
2008 and served on the Audit and Finance Committee last year. He
currently is the
vice chairman and founding executive vice president
of impreMedia,
LLC, the leading publisher of Spanish language print and online news media in
the country. He is also the principal of Lozano Enterprises, a private
investment firm that lends business expertise to start-up companies.
Additionally, he
serves on the
board of trustees for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and The Skadden
Fellowship Foundation.
An REI member
since 1994, Lozano resides in Manhattan Beach, Calif. and is an avid outdoor
enthusiast who enjoys backpacking, skiing, mountain biking, surfing and
sailing.
Davis
was first appointed to REI’s
board in 2007, and has served on the co-op’s Audit and Finance Committee for two
years. Davis is currently the chair of the governing council for The
Wilderness Society, which works to save, protect and restore the nation's
wilderness. She also serves on the board of the World Wildlife Fund.
With extensive
experience in governmental social and environmental policy on the state and
federal levels, Davis retired from
Johnson & Johnson in
2007 where she was an officer responsible for global compliance and vice
president of technical resources. An REI member since 2006, she resides in
Bozeman, Mont. and is a lifelong conservationist and outdoor enthusiast.
REI’s board of directors
represents the co-op’s membership and provides oversight for the affairs and
performance of the company. The board is comprised of 13 co-op members, 10 of
whom are elected by the membership. REI’s president and CEO Sally Jewell is a
member of the board by virtue of the position, and two members serve one-year
appointed terms. Four committees operate within the board, including the
Executive Committee, Nominating and Governance Committee, Compensation Committee
and Audit and Finance Committee.
