Community service has always been an REI core value. Over the past 65+ years, we have worked hard to contribute to the communities in which we do business.
Every year, REI stores across the country coordinate outdoor service projects. It's our way of connecting to the community, as we bring together members, employees, and volunteers from a variety of organizations to improve local outdoor resources and foster a stewardship ethic amongst local community members.
REI is also a proud sponsor of several national stewardship events such as National Trails Days, and Adopt-a-Crag, and organizes service projects for these and numerous others events including Earth Day, and National Public Lands Day. This is in addition to all of the local level events that REI sponsors across the country every year.
In 2007, REI invested in our non-profit partners through service projects, event sponsorships, and grant support. Over the lifetime of these grants, REI's support will result in 260,666 volunteers, who will collectively donate 2,149,870 hours working on trails, waterways, parks, and public lands throughout the country.
For information about REI's service projects, contact your local REI store. Individual stores post information about upcoming projects online in their "Store Events" section.
In 2006, through service projects, event sponsorships, and grant support, REI effectively inspired 169,015 volunteers, who collectively donated 900,767 hours working on trails, waterways, parks, and public lands throughout the country.
