REI Opens Distribution Center in Bedford, Pa. to Support Company Growth in the Eastern United States November 29, 2007— Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, will officially open its distribution center in Bedford, Pa., a 525,000 square-foot building on 43 acres on Friday, Nov. 30.

REI to Outfit East Bay Outdoor Enthusiasts Through New Store in Brentwood, Calif. November 23, 2007— Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, today announced plans to open a store in Brentwood, Calif. in 2009.

REI Appoints Brenda Davis to Board of Directors October 22, 2007— Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, today announced the appointment of Brenda Davis to a one-year term to the company's board of directors.

REI Prototype Store Opens October 5 in Boulder, Colo. October 4, 2007— On Friday, Oct. 5, Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, opens its first prototype store to test new retail concepts and the performance of green building features, including state-of-the-art technology and environmentally friendly materials. Findings from the working laboratory will help the company make decisions on how it approaches green building design and construction in the future.

REI Grants $100,000 to Bikes Belong Foundation to Help U.S. Cities Become Bicycle Friendly September 27, 2007— Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, announced today that the company has provided a $100,000 grant to the Bikes Belong Foundation to support an innovative series of grant awards to help U.S. cities become more bicycle friendly. The Bikes Belong Foundation, in cooperation with the League of American Bicyclists, will direct the new effort.

REI to Double Presence in Chicago Area
August 29, 2007— Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, today announced plans to open new stores in Schaumburg, Ill. and Lincoln Park, Ill. The locations will double REI's presence in the Chicago metropolitan area by 2008.

REI Introduces Eco-Sensitive Icon to Identify Outdoor Products with Reduced Environmental Impact
August 16, 2007— Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, today announced that select REI brand products will carry an eco-sensitive label, designating items manufactured with a high percentage of recycled, rapidly renewable and/or organic fibers. REI's eco-sensitive offerings complement the company's broader strategy to reduce its environmental impact in all areas of its business.

REI TO OPEN IN STONECREEK VILLAGE
August 8, 2007— Stockton-based Stone Brothers & Associates and Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, today announced that REI will open a store at Stonecreek Village, Stockton's first upscale retail center currently under construction. The new 26,000 square-foot, two-story store will anchor the 15-acre Stonecreek Village located at the corner of Pacific Avenue and West Robinhood Drive. This addition will join New York & Company, AnnTaylor LOFT, Eddie Bauer, J. Jill, Talbots, Cacique, Coldwater Creek, Aveda Lifestyle Salon, Lane Bryant, Jos. A. Bank, Juice It Up!, BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse and Boudin SF slated for opening in the spring of 2008.

REI Appoints Jesse King to Board of Directors
July 26, 2007— Outdoor retailer Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) today announced the appointment of Jesse King to a one-year term to the company's board of directors. King, 52, resides in Evergreen, Colo.

REI Reaches Milestone in Boulder Store Renovation
July 19, 2007— Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, today announced that its Boulder, Colo. prototype store has reached the second phase in its expansion and renovation. Upon completion, the store will serve as a working laboratory to analyze new retail concepts and the performance of green building features.

REI to Open Store in Issaquah
June 21, 2007— Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), the national outdoor retail cooperative founded in 1938 by a group of Pacific Northwest mountaineers, today announced plans to open a store in Issaquah, Wash. in the fall of 2007.

REI Opens in Northbrook with Three-Day Celebration
April 27, 2007— Recreational Equipment, Inc (REI) invites cooperative members and the community to celebrate the opening of its Northbrook store during its grand opening weekend Friday, May 4 through Sunday, May 6. The opening is timed in conjunction with the start of the co-op's Anniversary Sale.

REI to Open in Clackamas Town Center in Portland, Oregon
March 30, 2007— Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, today announced plans to open a store at Clackamas Town Center in Portland, Oregon, in the fall of 2007.

REI Releases Inaugural Stewardship Report
March 27, 2007— Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, announced at its annual membership meeting the release of its first stewardship report. The report, available online at www.rei.com/stewardship, provides a review of the co-op's social and environmental priorities and efforts for 2006, and includes short and long-term aspirations for improvement.

REI Announces 2007 Board Election Results
March 27, 2007— Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, announced its 2007 board election results during its annual membership meeting held March 26. Cooperative members voted to return incumbents Anne Farrell and Tom Harville, and elected John Hamlin and Edward M. Schmults to three-year board terms.

REI Names Jeff Zon Vice President of Information Services
March 5, 2007— Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, has named Jeff Zon to Vice President of Information Services.

REI Posts Sales for 2006
February 26, 2007— Outdoor retailer Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), the nation's largest consumer cooperative, today announced that $58 million will be distributed to its active members through the annual patronage refund based on the co-op's 2006 sales of $1.18 billion. These record financials mark the second consecutive year where sales rose more than 15 percent.

REI Announces 2006 Vendor Partnership Award Winners
January 29, 2007— Recreational Equipment, Inc. January 9, 2007— Recreational Equipment, Inc. REI to Open Its Second Store in Charlotte

REI's Pittsburgh Store Receives United States Green Building Council's LEED Silver Rating for Commercial Interiors
August 30, 2006—Less water, less electricity, minimal construction waste and an urban location on the reclaimed grounds once home to a steel mill all helped REI's new Pittsburgh store reduce its environmental impact.

REI Names Tom Vogl Vice President of Marketing

REI Names Brad Brown to Lead Web Strategy
June 28, 2006—Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, has appointed Brad Brown vice president of E-Commerce and Web Strategies. Brown will lead the development of the next generation of REI.com as the site approaches its 10-year anniversary.


REI to Open a Store in Chula Vista

REI Boulder Store Renovation will Include New Design Concepts
May 25, 2006—Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, today announced plans to renovate and expand its current Boulder, Colo., store to pilot a prototype design for REI stores. Project completion is set for the fall 2007.

REI to Open a Store in Cranston, R.I.
May 23, 2006—Recreational Equipment, Inc. Adventure Vacations top American Wish Lists
Dec. 15, 2005—According to a recent Leisure Trends Group national survey, taking an adventure vacation topped the list of things sought most by Americans if money was no object. Six REI Stewardship Award Winners Announced
Oct. 17, 2005—When Lisa Hellman got involved as a volunteer with the Orange County Inner City Outings it was a fledgling program dedicated to taking kids out hiking and camping. In three years, she recruited 65 adult volunteers, personally led 55 outings, secured new funding and developed new partnerships and educational resources.

REI stores distribute 160 grants to local conservation groups and clubs
Aug. 10, 2005—Store employees at Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and apparel, personally handed checks and gear in June and July to 160 conservation groups and outdoor recreation clubs nationwide. The grants, which range from $2,000 to $10,000, go to organizations nominated by employees. The total awarded is $780,000.

REI Announces Board Election Results
March 30, 2005—Members of Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, returned incumbents Michael Smith and Doug Walker, and elected first-time board member Cheryl Scott, to its board of directors for three-year terms. The election results were announced at the co-op’s annual membership meeting March 28.

REI Posts Strong '04 Results
March 9, 2005—Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), the nation's largest consumer cooperative, today announced a $44 million member refund to its active members on 2004 sales of $887 million. Based on 2004 results, the outdoor retailer also increased its financial support of environmental stewardship efforts to $2.5 million for 2005.

REI Named to FORTUNE's 100 Best Companies List
January 10, 2005—For the eighth consecutive year, Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) has been named as one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For" by FORTUNE magazine. The outdoor retailer known for its quality gear, staff expertise and commitment to environmental stewardship ranked 45th on the annual list, and is one of only 22 companies to be named to the magazine's "Hall of Fame" for appearing on the list every year since 1998.

REI Grant Supports Volunteerism at National Parks
November 30, 2004—Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) and the National Park Foundation (NPF) recently partnered to enhance the National Park Service's Volunteers-In-Parks Programs throughout the country. From Sept. 7 through Oct. 2, REI made a donation to the NPF upon each sale of specially selected REI Gear and Apparel products. Customer purchases throughout the promotion resulted in a $100,000 grant announced today to support volunteerism in National Parks from Cape Cod National Seashore to Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

REI Gift Registry Sales Soar in Eight Months
November 18, 2004—Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, which launched an integrated online, phone and store gift registry this spring, has seen registry sales to engaged couples, their families and friends increase 70 percent in first eight months.

REI Announces Distribution Center Expansion Plans

REI's New Portland Store Receives United States Green Building Council's LEED® Gold Award for Commercial Interiors
November 11, 2004—The United States Green Building Council announced today that the new Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI) Portland store, has received a LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Commercial Interiors Gold Rating, making it the first retail store in the U.S. to achieve this standard. REI is a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing. The Portland store is located in the Pearl District at the corner of NW 14th Avenue and NW Johnson Street.

IMBA Awards 100 REI/IMBA Outdoor Stewardship Toolkits
November 10, 2004—Mountain bike groups coast-to-coast will soon receive an unprecedented boost for their volunteer trailwork projects, as a result of a financial and gear grant from Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), announced today by the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA).

REI Adventures Sees Upswing in Overseas Travel
October 15, 2004—REI Adventures, Recreational Equipment, Inc.'s (REI) active travel service, today announced they have seen a clear rebound in interest for travel in Europe, Asia, and Africa; with 2004 business being up 16 percent, 73 percent, and 14 percent respectively. They expect this trend to continue in 2005.
